"JUNIOR BROTHER: Why, flesh and blood, my lord.
What should move men unto a woman else?"
(I.ii.48-49)
This play seems to be a case of hormones on the loose. The entire focus of this act seemed to be one huge series of sexual plots and random infatuations. I just wonder whether the characters are using sex simply for pleasure, revenge, or something else. I am curious to see how the Duchess's planned affair with Spurio will turn out, especially since he despises her (and everyone else) so much. Revenge for being the outcast as the Duke's bastard son, perhaps? His description of how his father got his mother pregnant was kind of funny though.
Also, as in most of these plays, this one is also a bit disturbing. This is especially true when considering Vindice's blatant incestuous acts/comments upon his mother and sister and his conversation with a skull in the beginning of the act. I wonder if there is any hint of insanity later on? I just think it is a bit weird and that he may end up as the center of the play later simply because he is so strange.
